Chispa is a very happy, adventurous, and persistent puppy. She’s definitely more interested in people than other dogs, which is wonderful, but I do want to make sure that she has ample opportunity to interact with other dogs, my dogs in particular. Her interactions have all been very appropriate – she demonstrates just the right posture and behavior when approaching the adult dogs. She doesn’t come on too strong, she persists just a LITTLE bit, to see how far she can get, but she backs off reasonably if the dog she’s interacting with makes it clear they’re not interested. Interestingly, it’s Solar she’s gotten the most traction with; she sticks her whole head in his mouth, like a lion tamer, and he just grumbles and grumbles and lets her do it. When he’s finished, Â he’ll gently put his paw over her neck and that’s that. Even Juno, who is SERIOUSLY not thrilled with the puppy, has been discovered to be all bark and no bite…

It was hot this past weekend, and so there wasn’t a whole lot of running around. The above photo was taken this morning after I finished up mowing the lawn from last night, and it was already hot again. I’m looking forward to playing with my new (to me) camera again this evening – Craigslist for the win!

I haven’t gone out and spent any money on fancy toys – Chispa, like many puppies, seems pretty happy with the toys I already have, plus, water bottles, cardboard boxes, and the like seem to be favorites in any case.
